XXI Century Brautiganism
XXI Century Brautiganism
Research Question:
How can textual, written form may be translated into visual, interactive art form to keep its enduring aesthetic quality to connect separate generations throughout time and space.
Methodology:
Combining traditional forms of art - poetry - with the new
form of contemporary time-based media, an effort is made to create a paradigm of public art that carries the message of the 60’s poet into the 21st Century environment. Without loosing the sense of the original qualities that poetry offers, visual avant-grade is introduced to enhance and/or interpret the textual/audial art form.
Findings:
Modern digital editing tools can be used to create interactivity between visual and textual art forms. Reestablishment of the poetry to appeal to the visually stimulated digital generation, thus creates a bridge between the cultures of the past and cultures of the future through time and space. Another mode of interactivity can be achieved through the use of digital video tools such as time-delays and touch-screens to separate the visual poetry into modules, reflecting the quality of an analog book in a digital format.
Rationale:
Continuing into the 21st Century, this mix of art forms promotes interdisciplinary research that combines Literature, Linguistics, with Fine Arts, Computing and Video Production technologies.
About author:
The author and concept visionary, Mikhail Oparin, was born and grew up in a Siberian city of Angarsk, Russia.
